What the fuck?

What happend to honesty???
This is a serious question.Honesty slowly seems to disappear clearing the way for little white lies, if you are lucky or just nothing. NOTHING!!!Do you ever deserve lies or being ignored? This really leads in a wrong direction.I thought it was a basic treatment between grown-ups you can expect. And to cover it with false politeness seriously doesnt`t make it better.I might sound bitter here but I am not.I am in shock...sounds over the top?maybe but I think its something to think about.
In the last few weeks I heard that so often. In general you can be happy if you are at least worth a lie...
Here you go telling at least the truth that might sound harsh or tells too much about you but you think you are doing the right thing and all you get is the big disappointment of getting nothing. This is so bad.
I am so disappointed.I can only shake my head and hope for a change.

Grow some balls!

Roadtrip

So the ferry is booked!Jenny and I are going to pick up Nina in Brighton. Driving to Calais is not going to be a problem at all I guess but thinking about the different situation in UK makes me a bit anxious considering I never drove on the "wrong" site of the street and there`s no way for me to avoid it.Jenny already told me but I`ll try my best and if I`m successful I`ll post some pictures soon and a report about the details.

I can`t wait...

Brighton May 09

So in May I arrived in London Stansted, choosing the lot more complicated and time-killing way as I found out pretty soon. I decided to go to Brighton by bus. Lucky me I was the only one who booked this bus: it was cancelled. Lovely 50 minutes later I was able to get on another bus and having a direct connection to Brighton. Again I was amazed by such polite and nice people. I was really excited about coming back to Brighton and when I arrived at Pool Valley station the "suffering" was over.Nina was waiting for me and I was prepared for some great days. But first we had to go uphill, downhill and uphill again. We didn`t go home directly but wanted to meet some of Ninas friends. We ended up in a shoeshop where I,still kind of drunk of all the happy feelings and way too impulsive bought too expensive shoes without thinking about the fact that I only had handluggage and no space left...I had to send them by post...What a gender stereotype! So we went home.
I defeated Mount Pleasant being happy to only carry handluggage this time.

Being prepared for the worst weather I was lucky again with 10 days of sunshine.Unfortunately Nina had to work but we still had the weekend. We went to digital where we had a great night with good music, drinks and nice people. When we were finally deaf, the music was pretty loud, we left to have the best burger ever at rfc.
When Nina had to go to work I decided the best thing to do when having days off, sunshine and the sea is of course to go to the beach just enjoying watching the daily life in Brighton with a coffe and icecream. I felt like this is the best thing that can happen to you:spending free time simple and easy in the sun. What else can you wish for?

I picked up Nina at the train station to go to some shops and eat. Eating was the central theme of this trip. In fact every day was based on the decision what to eat next.Great!!!

Till Thursday nothing spectacular happend not meaning that it wasn`t a lot of fun. The Great Escape took place whilst I stayed so there was always something going on. Concerts and plays and many other things. We watched Othello by the drama class of the Brighton university. For unprofessional actors it was really good and worth the money. Besides we thought it was a good idea to do something more challenging for our minds. We continued with some intellectual stuff when going to Preston park to watch Romeo and Juliet-more a lowbrow as we found out later but a lot of fun.

At thursday we met some friends, spending a lovely evening at their house, drinking too much, leading to the decision that I would cancel my flight which I was suppose to leave for at friday 1am by bus...a way too expensive decision I had to realize later but worth it. I gained 3 more sunny days in Brighton ending with a bad sunburn.Unfortunately only on the right side.
I booked a new flight for monday morning and had a nice last night ending too early with not enough sleep at all.
Not surprisingly at all I guess I am going back to Brighton end of June.
So I can only say: to be continued!

Brighton April 09

Well, the brits are suppose to be different. Obviously I am from abroad calling them brits...
They live on an island, they still have monarchy but when I went to Brighton to visit a friend I found one of the most beautiful places in europe with incredibly nice people.
I have to admit that first i was completely overwhelmed by the sweet british politeness and I had to relativize it: not everybody calling you sweetheart, darling and telling you that you are gorgeous truely has deep feelings for you ;-) I figured that out when the busdriver called me darling...I probably was not the love of his life so the meaning is not as meaningful as you might think.
Arriving at Brighton station on wednesday the first thing I heard were the seagulls and I felt almost home. I was lucky with the weather, the sun was shining and it was not too cold. That was a surprise, mentioning that it was april. We walked to Kemp town which is basically through the whole city uphill and downhill and uphill again. The choices of street names is actually really funny, calling a hill that felt like my personal Mount Everest Mount Pleasant;really appropriate.
I loved the fact that 4 students are living together in a house. This is something I am not used to only knowing flat-sharing communities in Hamburg.
In the evening we went out to the pubs for some drinks and ended in a lovely pub with great livemusic and got to know some people. Again really polite but stingy when it comes to cab bills as i found out later. We had a nice night out shortly thinking about going to swim in the sea but chickend out in the end.
The next day was basically designed for a bad hangover which we beat in the afternoon. Enjoying the sunshine and the shops we saw people on a treasure hunt. In Germany its a kids game, in UK grown-up men are on treasure hunts. As I mentioned above: they are a bit odd and weird...
Lucky me, my friend didn`t have to work so we planned the next days.
Brighton is a cozy city by the sea, really tolerant and relaxed. But if you go to Great Britain of course you want to go to London as well.
When I went to London the first time, almost 7 years ago, I loved it. It was busy, noisy and hectic and for me coming from a small town it was just great. Going from Brighton to London was shocking and no fun at all. It is still busy, noisy and hectic but not great at all. But I was living in Hamburg the last years so I don`t see myself as the country bumpkin anymore. Its a great place to visit but its so energy-absorbing that after 6 hours i was exhausted and just happy and relieved when we arrived back in Brighton.
The central theme of my stay in Brighton was going to pubs. It`s nothing unusual to see people in pubs at 2pm so we adjusted and went to many pubs as well at, for me, early times. Starting some kind of addiction to Bulmers cider we started to realize why they are drinking that early: because its so much fun!!!
We did some sightseeing including Brighton beach with the pier, looking like someone put something to a place where it doesn`t belong. It looks really weird, especially with this carneval thingy going on...
Brighton has some really nice clubs where you can get in contact with people easily. They play good music and everybody is just having fun.
When sunday came closer and I realized that I had to leave soon I truely felt sad and decided to come back as soon as possible.
4,5 weeks later I arrived in Stansted...
